Sergey Artamonov began his musical studies at the city musical college in Kaliningrad and graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory under Professor Kudyavtsev.
He made started his professional opera career in Novaya Opera in Moscow, where during the period of 2003–2015 he sang Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville, Zaccaria in Nabucco, Monterone in Rigoletto, King's herald in Lohengrin, Prince Igor and Prince Galitskiy in Prince Igor, Ruslan in Ruslan and Ludmila, Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Rene in Iolanta, The Archbishop in The Maid of Orleans, Tsar Ivan the Terrible in Rimsky-Korsakov's The Maid of Pskov, Varlaam in Boris Godunov, Moroz in The Snow Maiden, Malyuta in The Tsar's Bride, Prince Gudal in Rubinstein's Demon, as well as the bass part in Verdi's Requiem.
Sergey Artamonov has performed alongside such distinguished singers as Placido Domingo, Juan Diego Flores, Bryn Terfel, Mariella Devia, or Marcello Alvarez. Recent engagements include Zaccaria in Nabucco (Teatro Comunale, Bologna; Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, Warsaw; NCPA, Beijing; Palau de les Arts, Valencia), Raimondo in Lucia de Lammermoor (Teatro alla Scala, Milano), Ferrando in Il Trovatore and Ramfis in Aida (Arena di Verona), Leporello in Don Giovanni, Giorgio in I Puritani, Alvise Badoero in Ponchielli's La Gioconda (Teatro Municipal, Santiago de Chile), Pagano in I lombardi (Novaya Opera, Moscow), Sparafucile in Rigoletto (Théâtre du Capitole, Toulouse), Colline in La Bohème (Teatro La Fenice), Escamillo in Carmen (Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow), Fiesco in Simon Boccanera (NCPA, Beijing).
