
The second prize winner of 2022 Moniuszko competition, Mechlinski’s 2024/25 season sees the baritone making several exciting debuts: with the Canadian Opera Company as Valentin in Faust, at Teatro Real Madrid as Guglielmo Cecil in Maria Stuarda, at Opera Bordeaux as Don Pizaro in Fidelio, and at the Santa Fe Opera Festival as Marcello in La boheme. He will also return to the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw as Paolo Albiani in Simon Boccanegra, to the Łódź Philharmonic with Via Crucis and to the Szczecin Philharmonic with Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
Past seasons were marked with a debut at Teatro Massimo Palermo as Sharpless in Madama Butterfly as well as his return to Warsaw's Teatr Wielki as Marcello in La boheme, Amonasro in Aida, and Francesco Cenci in Beatrix Cenci, and to the Poznan Opera House as Miecznik in The Haunted Manor, Teatro Regio di Parma as Count di Luna in Il Trovatore, the Dutch National Opera as Lord Guglielmo Ceci in Maria Stuarda, return to Warsaw's Teatr Wielki as Marcello in La boheme and to the Wroclaw Opera as Miecznik in The Haunted Manor, Ottokar in Die Freischütz, and Marcello in La boheme.
Recent season’s engagements include debut with Teatro alla Scala Milano with the title role of Krol Roger (cover)*, the Finnish National Opera as Silvio in I Pagliacci, return to the Wroclaw Opera as Ottokar in Die Freischütz, Lescaut in Manon, and Marcello in La boheme, return to the Polish National Opera as Escamillo in Carmen and in a newly discovered opera Barbara Radziwiłł as Gasztold. He was also seen at the Glasgow Scottish Opera in the role of Duke in The Miserly Knight*, Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza with Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, the Finnish National Opera with Leoncavallo in I Pagliacci, Marcello in La boheme with the Polish National Opera*, a return to the Wexford Opera Festival for the production of The Veiled Prophet, appearances with Opera de Lyon as Strahlbusch in their new production of Schreker’s Irrelohe, Nationaltheater Mannheim as Fillipe Maria Visconti in Beatrice di Tenda, the Warsaw Philharmonic in the role of Ryx in Cassanova, the Poznan Opera as Lescaut in Manon Lescaut, and Opera Wroclaw in the role of Dandini in La Cenerentola.
Other engagements of note include Dr Malatesla in Don Pasquale and Luigi in Il Bravo with the Wexford Festival Opera, Foka in Enchantress at Opera de Lyon, the title role in Eugene Onegin at Theater Dortmund and Opera de Toulon, Yamadori in Madama Butterfly at the Glyndebourne Festival, Fritz in Die Tote Stadt with the Polish National Opera on tour, Raimbaud in Le Comte Ory at the Dorset Opera Festival, and Marcello La boheme at the Gdansk’s Baltic State Opera.
Mechlinski holds BM and MM degrees with distinction from the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Music Academy, Poznań where he studied with Professor Jerzy Mechliński, Professor Iwona Kowalkowska and Gabriela Klima-Kściuczyk. He continues studies with Maestro Giorgio Zancanaro.
