Makers of women's costumes
The costume making workshop is the biggest of all the production workshops at the opera house. That is no surprise – each new production means a few hundred costumes, while each women's stage outfit could comprise a petticoat, corset, skirt and a coat. The workshops uses thousands of running metres of fabrics: one dress may use up to 95 metres, and often one character wears a different costume in each act of the performance. All the costumes are of course tailor made, but the performers' measurements are kept top sectret...
