Dear Audience Members,
The Polish government has introduced stricter lockdown measures across Poland from 20 March to 9 April. Cultural institutions will be closed for the public during this time.
As a result, we have cancelled the following events: The Magic Flute (26, 27, and 30 March), Krzysztof Penderecki in memoriam (28 March), and Werther (9 April). The Opera Gallery and Theatre Museum also remain closed.
We have also cancelled Premiere Prelude: Paul Hindemith (22 April).
Thank you to all those who attended our shows in February and March – the ballet Romeo and Juliet and the opera Madama Butterfly featuring the star soprano Aleksandra Kurzak.
We do hope that will be able welcome you to the opera house after 9 April to show you Massenet's Werther under Patrick Fournillier, starring Piotr Beczała on 11 April, and the premiere of Mariusz Treliński's take on of Hindemith's Cardillac under Tim Murray with Tomasz Konieczny in the leading role. The production has been designed by Boris Kudlička.
Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube, and check out our digital offerings on vod.teatrwielki.pl. On 27 March we will treat you to the online premiere of Creations 13, the Polish National Ballet's choreographic workshop
Piotr Beczała's concert scheduled for 17 March will take place in an empty auditorium and will be shown online at a later date.
