Her impressive repertoire includes brilliant roles in operas by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Richard Strauss, Chausson and Tchaikovsky She sang alongside the most iconic stars of opera: Carlo Bergonzi, José Carreras, Franco Corelli, Fiorenza Cosotto, Plácido Domingo, Mikołaj Giaurov, Sherill Milnes, Luciano Pavarotti, Ruggiero Raimondi, Jon Vickers, Wiesław Ochman, Montserrat Caballé, and Teresa Stratas.
With her mesmerising timbre, beautiful legato and drama skills, she triumphed at the Paris Opera, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, La Scala and the Metropolitan Opera, where she became a long-standing regular.
On 26 January 2020, the Polish National Opera held a gala concert celebrating Teresa Żylis-Gara's milestone birthday. The event featured performances by Marcelina Beucher, Ilona Krzywicka, Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk, Olga Pasichnyk, Urszula Kryger, Tadeusz Szlenkier and Marcin Bronikowski. Wiesław Ochman, who hosted the event, said: Wherever I went, whichever theatre I was working for around the globe, Teresa Żylis-Gara had already been there. And everywhere I heard: meraviglia, bella, fantastica, eccelente, wunderbar…
On the Artist's birthday, 23 January, we wish the great lady of opera all the best and remain grateful for the possibility of experiencing her fathomless talent on our stage.
