'With a lot of hesitation and regret, but also admiration for Het Nationale Ballet, my career in the Netherlands and everything I owe to this exceptional company, I came to the conclusion that it is time for me to resign from the position of resident choreographer I have held there.
'There were many reasons for that, but the most important is that 8 years ago I fully dedicated myself to the work with Polish National Ballet in Warsaw and quite naturally I wasn’t present in the artistic live of HNB as I had been before. I am grateful for the opportunities which I had been given by the Netherlands and the Dutch National Ballet itself for over 30 years I spent there, at first as a dancer and then also as a choreographer.
'Now, understanding the freedom of artistic choice of every ballet director, I have decided to liberate the position of resident choreographer with Het Nationale Ballet, opening the space for new generations of choreographers. Knowing that my works are still in HNB’s repertoire plans, naturally I will be always ready to devote my time and effort to new and existing productions. I wish the Dutch National Ballet a lot of satisfaction and success for years to come and assure the company of my respect, friendship and love.'
