As of 21 March, 7 pm, the Teatr Wielki's production of Eros and Psyche will be available for watching on OperaVision.
Eros and Psyche is an opera by Ludomir Różycki with a libretto by Jerzy Żuławski. The current production was given its debut at the Polish National Opera on 13 October 2017 under the baton of Grzegorz Nowak. The director, Barbara Wysocka set the action in the world of film, giving the monumental, yet forgotten, opera a new angle, to the delight of audiences and critics alike. The action moves between ancient Arcadia, the Roman Empire, medieval Europe, revolutionary France and the early 20th century. The role of Psyche was Joanna Freszel's debut at the Wielki, and the artist delivered a compelling singing and acting performance. The singer has since received one of the most prestigious Polish culture awards, a Paszport Polityki.
OperaVision brings together 30 opera houses from 18 European countries to enable viewers to watch live streams and on-demand recordings of operas staged by contributing companies. It is the first initiative of this caliber, offering easy and free access to opera for all, regardless of the place of residence or social status.
The production will be available until 20 August 2018. We hope you enjoy the show!
