Piotr Peszat studied at the Academy of Music in Kraków under Krzysztof Meyer (2009–2014), graduating with distinction. In December 2013 he received the Minister of Culture nad National Heritage’s Award for the best students. From 2013 to 2015 he studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus under Simon Steen-Andersen. Currently, he is studding for his PhD in Kraków under Marek Chołoniewski.

Mr Peszat won Second Prize at the competition Composer’s Concert of the Year (Katowice, 2011), reached the finals of the 54th Tadeusz Baird Composition Comptition (Warsaw, 2013), and came in first at the Roche Young Commissions (Lucerne, 2013), following which he was commissioned to write a piece for symphony orchestra. The work was performed at the 77th Lucerne Festival in August 2015. In September 2014 Mr Peszat won the MEETINGS – International Competition (Copenhagen, 2014). In December that year he won an artistic residency in Fljótstunga, Iceland, during which he produced, together with Polish artist Katarzyna Feiglewicz, an installation called Inside Earth Outside. In January 2015 he won a competition held by Ung Nordisk Musikfestival Danmark and was selected one of seven composers to represent Denmark at Ung Nordisk Musikfestival in Helsinki in September 2015. In November 2016 he emerged as the winner of Adoptions 2017 and was commissioned to write a piece for the Berlin-based Ensemble Adapter. The work is set to be given its debut at the end of 2017.
