The exhibition features a selection of paintings and drawings coming from five cycles created in the 2000s – Poza nieskończoność (Beyond Eternity) from 2001–2002, Himalaje (The Himalayas) from 2002, Titanic from 2006–2008, Księżyc i moja czereśnia (The Moon and My Cherry Tree) from 2010, and Ciągłość energii (The Continuity of Energy) from 2013–2015.
'Despite being very different on the surface, they always touch upon the same problem: the structure of the universe and the secret of life,' wrote Janusz Zagrodzki about Dobskowski's works. 'The substance of his paintings verges on musical connotations, while his style – simple and convoluted at the same time – attempts to sketch an intellectual landscape of space in many different visual aspects,' he added.
The showcase of Jan Dobkowski's art is another exhibition held by Opera Gallery, a project launched and run by the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw drawing on the correspondance des arts. The Gallery features the classics of Polish avant-garde – a generation of artists who laid foundations for Polish modern art. The project was spearheaded by Waldemar Dąbrowski, director of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, and Adam Myjak, rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
