The Polish National Opera announces auditions for a double bass position (full-time).
The exam will take place on 4 January 2027 at 10 a.m. in the Orchestra Rehearsal Room and will consist of three stages.
The deadline for submitting applications, along with a CV, is 8 December 2026.
Solo or orchestra tuning by choice. Stage One and Two will take place behind a curtain. Stage Three will be open.
PROGRAMME
Stage One
1. First movement of a classical concerto with cadenza:
either by C. D. Dittersdorf with the Hans Gruber cadenza
or
by J. K. Vanhal
Piano accompaniment is mandatory.
2. Orchestral Excerpts

After the applications are reviewed, invitations to the audition will be sent by email to selected candidates on 14 December 2026.
Applications (addressed to the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera Management) requesting an admission to the audition for the position of double bass musician (full-time) should be sent, along with a CV, to: orkiestra@teatrwielki.pl. The applications must be signed by hand, scanned, and sent as email attachments (pdf., doc., or odt.).
Each candidate will receive an email confirmation of submission.
We kindly inform you that all applications submitted after the deadline provided in the announcement, i.e. after 8 December 2026, will be automatically rejected.
The decisions of the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera Management regarding the audition process and the candidate's selection are final and not subject to appeal.
The Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera provides an accompanist.
The Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera does not reimburse travel expenses.
The Management also reserves the right to change the audition date, audition format, repertoire, order of pieces performed. The Management is able to cancel or invalidate the audition without providing a reason.
