The Gala's programme reflects the richness of the Polish National Ballet's repertory and the diversity of the choreographic languages employed by dance creators over the centuries.
You will see a selection of excerpts from the Polish National Ballet’s most significant productions, from the choreographic heritage of 19th-century Romanticism, through the great works of the classical tradition, to contemporary pieces that are constantly pushing the boundaries of artistic imagination.
Gracing the stage will be PNB dancers and soloists, who, through their hard work, talent, and passion, contribute every day to the opera house’s artistic excellence.
They will be joined by a lineup of guest artists representing three great European ballet traditions – artists from the Paris Opera Ballet, La Scala Ballet in Milan, and the Royal Ballet in London. Their participation gives us great joy. The international nature of the gala testifies to the standing of the Polish National Ballet on the European stage and offers our audience a rare opportunity to see dancers of Europe's greatest companies on the same stage during one evening.
We also want to give our audience a taste of what is happening behind the scenes. Throughout the evening, you will see backstage footage showing our work, the artists’ everyday lives, and the magic of live performance coming to life. This is a story of exceptionally hard work, daily discipline, and perseverance, but also of joy, passion, and fulfilment that make every effort worthwhile. The daily labour is precisely why the audience gathered at our auditorium sees not strain, but beauty, emotion, harmony, and seemingly effortless dance.
The event will be shown by Telewizja Polska. We are glad that thanks to our collaboration with the national broadcaster ballet and opera can reach viewers across the country.
The new season marks the beginning of our partnership with Totalizator Sportowy, as the company becomes a patron of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera. Their generous support will help us develop our operations, increase the quality of our productions and events, and make them more accessible to a wider audience. We are happy to be opening the new season on a large scale, together with distinguished artists, and a new partner by our side.
