The Teatr Wielki's artistic director was named the Best Creator of the Year. The same award went to Paweł Pawlikowski, director of Ida, winner of the 2015 Oscar for Foreign Language Film.
Dating back to 1985, the Wiktor Awards are handed to prominent figures who have been most appreciated by television viewers across Poland. Nominees are put up by television networks. Winners are determined by the Wiktor Television Academy comprising former winners.
Among last year's winners was Waldemar Dabrowski, the Teatr Wielki's general director. Among this year's nominees were renowned Polish opera singers Małgorzata Walewska and Piotr Beczała.
