One of the most sensational new productions of this season, The Best City in the World: An Opera About Warsaw premieres online on 5 December, after a triumphant, sold-out first run, during which it was seen by 8,500 people. 

Directed by Barbara Wiśniewska and based on Grzegorz Piątek's novel under the same title, the compelling opera about Warsaw's post-war reconstruction was also enthusiastically received by the critics, who praised its finesse (Jacek Marczyński, Rzeczpospolita), Natalia Kitamikado's striking sets and Emil Wysocki's superb cosyumes (Tomasz Pasternak, Orfeo), as well as Cezary Duchnowski's appealing score in Bassem Akiki's interpretation (Anna Dębowska, Wyborcza). The reviewers also applauded the soloists, Agata Zubel and Joanna Freszel, and the opera's powerful choruses (Dorota Szwarcman, Polityka).

Do not miss this moving contemporary tale about a city rising like a phoenix from the ashes, human ideals and ambitions, and the ordinary people who accomplished the mammoth task of bringing a city back to life.
